Richard and Koy's French Inter-Rail Adventure: 13th-25th October 2003
BORDEAUX - LA ROCHELLE - ARCACHON & DUNE DE PYLA - CARCASSONNE - COLLIOURE - ARLES - AIX-EN-PROVENCE & MARSEILLE - AVIGNON - LYON - PARIS
We decided, for a different kind of holiday, rather than stay in one town for a week or two, to buy an Inter-Rail pass and explore France a bit.
We bought our 12-day rail passes, which gave us carte blanche (ho ho) of the whole of the SNCF, from RailEurope for £182 each.
For our guidebook we chose Lonely Planet France which proved enormous in its scope and thus perfect for our trip, and extremely reliable in its advice, especially on budget hotels and good-value restaurants.
The following pages contain photos and an account of our journey. Click on a photo on the right to go direct to the page for that town/city or here to start the tour.
To save downloading time we've put the photos on the pages as thumbnails which you can click to see the full-size images.
We hope you enjoy our holiday as much as we did! |
