FRIDAY 24TH: LYON (passing through)
On the last day of our tour, we made our way back to Paris from Avignon via Lyon. The scenery from the trains was stunning, a whole range of French landscapes unrolling beside us from canyons to fields (with and without sheep) to vineyards both hilly and flat. Sadly when we got to Lyon the warm, sunny weather we'd enjoyed in the south had "gone off", and on a bitterly cold afternoon, we just had time for some lunch and an hour's walk from the Part Dieu station to the Old Town and back again before catching our train to Paris.
